As winter begins to take hold in Verbier  our team take a look at what’s new and a reminder of what makes Verbier the greatest ski resort in the World. Excitement is brewing with the first snowfall and the opening of the first lifts in lifts in Lac De Vaux. The full skis area is set to open on 3rd Dec so the race to Winter is on!

In resort, our managers are curating an exciting training plan and pre season preparations for our seasonal staff arrival which kicks off at the end of November. In the UK our pre arrival concierge team are flat out making sure our guests have a perfectly planned holiday.

The pre arrival concierge process is something we pride ourselves on, each holiday is assigned a personal concierge manager who takes care of all the planning, from the moment you book, every detail is cross-checked and considered to ensure guests can enjoy and make the most of every moment in resort.

Our Team

This year at SVE we celebrated our 30th anniversary, so we felt this was a natural time to evolve and expand our team as we embark on our 31st winter!

As well as our seasonal winter team, we’re delighted to welcome a some new permanent faces to our core team this year. Some we welcome back, and some are brand new and bring a wealth of luxury hospitality knowledge and friendly smiles to our SVE family.

Stephen joined us earlier this year, this will be his first winter with SVE as our Managing Director, working alongside Tom in our UK office. Stephen is no stranger to luxury travel but he is excited to bring some new innovative ideas to our team.

We welcome back Rachel as our new Resort Manager. You may recognise her from previous winters as a Chalet Manager in Chalet Milou and Chalet Nyumba. Rachel has been working on superyachts with her talented chef partner in crime, Calum, they are such a talented duo and we are so happy that Rachel is back with SVE.

Ruaridh is another fresh face to our team this year, but no stranger to life in the Alps. This is his 10th winter in the Alps and 5th winter in Verbier! This level of expertise and knowledge will add a new exciting dimension to our resort team. We’re looking forward to seeing the the passion and knowledge that spreads through the team under Ruaridh as our new General Manager.

Izzy joins our Pre Arrival Concierge team after spending a winter with us in Chalet Milou as a Chalet Manager. Izzy’s expertise and inside out knowledge of Verbier means she is is best placed to help all our guests with their pre arrival holiday plans. Izzy now joins us as part of our UK team and works closely with Dibby and James on the Concierge team.

Sustainability in Verbier

In addition to improving the snow grooming and snow making systems and encouraging alternative forms of transport, Televerbier has introduced a number of measures to create a greener mountain and limit the impact of tourism on the environment. The motors on the lifts have been updated and automatically adjust the speed of the lifts to help reduce electricity consumption.  The resort’s old heating system has been replaced with a pellet system reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 90% which has resulted in a huge reduction of CO2.
Currently there are no COVID restrictions or regulations in place in Switzerland.
