Verbier, the resort

Verbier the Resort. With its legendary ski terrain, spectacular mountain scenery and high-octane nightlife, it’s easy to see why Verbier is one of the world’s most famous ski resorts.

Perched high above the Val de Bagnes on a dramatic south-facing plateau, skiers have been flocking to Verbier for generations.

Verbier itself is more a little Swiss town than the traditional stereotype of a ski resort, with a thriving year-round community living in chocolate-box chalets and beautiful converted wooden barns called mazots. Verbier’s infamous nightlife needs little introduction and boasts an eclectic mix of aprés ski bars such as the Farinet and Le Pub Mont Fort, Michelin-starred restaurants, and superb nightclubs such as The Farm and Casbah.

Verbier is an easy one hour and forty five minute drive from Geneva airport, 45 minutes from the international airport at Sion which is now welcoming commercial flights with Powdair. The resort is only 10 minutes from Le Chable where trains run directly to Martigny with connections to Zurich, Paris, Milan and into Geneva Airport.

This superb 90-second film captures the essence of Verbier and all it has to offer in both winter and summer.

“Despite its ritzy packaging, Verbier is that rare beast of a resort – all things to all people. It swings from schnapps-fuelled debauchery to VIP lounges, bunker hostels to design-oriented hotels, burgers to Michelin stars. Here ski bums and celebs slalom in harmony on powder that is legendary.”
