Together we cannot wait to welcome you to Villa Can Tramuntana! You may be thinking “Why Pollensa?” for our first luxury villa in Mallorca.

James (our Head of UK Guest Relations) went out to Mallorca back in April to explore and discover a brand new exciting villa and everything to do in Northern Mallorca. Read on for more about his stay…

Mallorca Expert

I recently visited our new Villa Can Tramuntana and key suppliers in Mallorca, discovering Pollensa old town, the surrounding towns, beaches and other attractions within a short distance so that I can give you a fresh update on everything. It is striking how many options there are, whether you want to chill out, take in the culture, be active, or do a bit of everything. What follows will help you from my time in Mallorca, including just a few of the notable must-dos for your stay!”

“Arriving at Palma de Mallorca Airport, you are located just a 50 km (45 minute) drive away from the charming historical town of Pollensa, and Villa Can Tramuntana which is just 10 minutes outside the town. The drive is really easy and there is a noticeable transition from bustling Palma to the beauty of the UNESCO World Heritage Serra de Tramuntana mountains that Pollensa lies at the foot of, setting the stage for an unforgettable experience ahead.

Nestled in the foothills, Pollensa’s old town has a timeless charm and rich heritage, and invites you to explore the winding streets and historic square, or relax in one of the quaint cafes nestled surrounded by centuries-old architecture. Whatever time of day, you must stop to eat or at least have a coffee here, perhaps in preparation to ascend the famous 365 Calvari steps. At the top your reward will be panoramic views towards the sea and a well deserved ice cream – it’s a (geographically) easy tick on the list.

The square is inviting, relaxing and social – its perimeter is almost exclusively populated by the patrons of the charming restaurants and cafes with only the occasional independent shop interrupting the bubbling chatter. The other stores are all just off the square so you can explore them easily and on market days, local artisans from outside Pollensa fill the normally open centre of the square for a few hours with locally made or grown goodies waiting to be discovered. My wife particularly enjoyed the local pottery stores and we couldn’t stop returning to La Mar Dolsa cafe and bakery.

No visit to Pollensa is complete without indulging in its gastronomic delights. From Michelin-starred restaurants to hidden gems serving authentic Mallorcan cuisine and tapas, the culinary scene here really is a feast for the senses. Savour fresh seafood, locally sourced ingredients, and exquisite flavours that epitomise Mediterranean dining at its finest. We are always happy to help make recommendations but from this visit, I would highly recommend Respira in Pollensa and Ses Coves restaurant just outside Campanet.”

Mallorca Holiday

For the adventurous at heart, Pollensa offers an array of outdoor pursuits to exhilarate and inspire. As a keen cyclist, I was inspired by the number of people sharing the famed roads of the Mallorca 312 cycling and Ironman Mallorca triathlon events. It was refreshing to see all ages, abilities and styles too – from lycra-clad ‘roadies’ and once a year tourers, to those just getting from A to B or doing their shopping. Walkers and hikers on their own cross country adventures will be seen regularly taking advantage of the numerous footpaths that criss-cross the island.

If teeing off at the prestigious Alcanada Golf Club is more your scene, the course is immaculate with stunning views overlooking the lighthouse and sparkling Mediterranean Sea. As a keen golfer myself, it was truly breathtaking to see first-hand one of the premier golf courses in Spain, and home to the end-of-season European Tour qualification tournament. We can of course help to arrange bike and golf club hire too.

Nearby, you should explore St. Vicenc and its four secluded beaches, Alcudia’s old town, and Campanet, where ancient inland caves and natural fountains await discovery (tip: combine these with the dinner at Ses Coves restaurant mentioned above!).

Puerto Pollensa offers pristine beaches and a long seafront promenade with plenty of space for walkers and cyclists. The tree-lined Pine Walk runs between the waterfront properties and hotels, away from traffic and is perfect for a seaside stroll. If you prefer to kick back and relax in the sun, exclusive beach clubs like Numa combine all the luxuries of a prime seafront location away from the crowds with incredible views, cuisine and a daily live DJ from 1500 until midnight!

Visiting the historic Lluc monastery is another must-add for your ‘culture’ list, and the drive through the Tramuntana mountains provides yet more incredible views that you’ll wonder if any of the cyclists are able to even comprehend. Venturing further North, you can explore the rugged coastline of Formentor, home to some of Mallorca’s most breathtaking beaches.

Whether you seek adventure or relaxation, Pollensa and the surrounding area offer so much to see and do, from its picturesque old town to its pristine beaches and beyond. After a week, you’ll have just touched the surface of the seemingly endless possibilities – and that’s if you even want to leave your villa!”
