With the excitement and festivities of Christmas and the festive period bubbling over into the week of New Year’s Eve, the Swiss Alps is the perfect place to see out the year with a bang. Verbier is well-known for its New Years celebrations, with Place Centrale bustling with people ready for the countdown to midnight.

If you really want to make the most of New Years Eve in Verbier, the Place Centrale street party is legendary and not to be missed, with DJs playing music from surrounding balconies and the Canton closing off vehicular access to the roads to make room for people to dance. Hundreds of champagne corks are popped at midnight and the skies are filled with fireworks! If you’d prefer to stay dry but want to be close to the madness, then the terrace of Le Farinet is the perfect spot to soak up the party atmosphere. As with all of the bars and restaurants, entrance to Farinet is ticketed, but it is worth it for the dual aspect of the chilled lounge bar on one side and lively après-bar on the other, as well as being able to watch the street party unfold. The W Hotel also throws a chic party with endless champagne and VIP table-service, the Farm Club hosts its famous 70’s style party and restaurants like Le Rouge and Table d’Adrien have a special New Years Eve menu.

If a more intimate evening is more your style, your Chef can prepare a special meal for you, with a sumptuous dessert followed by cheese and biscuits, or anything else you might fancy. After dinner your Chalet Host will make sure there is plenty of Champagne and drinks chilled for you and your guests to welcome in the New Year. Many of our chalets themselves have a view of the town so you can watch the fireworks and revellers in the streets of Verbier from the comfort of your home from home.

Whichever way you’d prefer to see out the year, Verbier has something to cater to all tastes! The morning after is always a painful one, but what better way to dust off the cobwebs than on the slopes. The crips mountain air and exhilarating pistes invigorate the body whilst the traditional mountain restaurants promise to aid recovery. Being on a ski holiday for New Year’s Day offers an energizing start, rejuvenating the body and mind, and setting a positive tone for the year ahead.
