Half Term Ski Holiday

The blissful week you have been looking forward to for months, the annual family ski holidays Verbier trip. The long awaited break from normality you have needed for longer than you care to remember. A chance to rest, recuperate and switch off from the daily grind and spend quality down time with your family. We understand these weeks are your precious highlight of the year, but that they can also be stressful to plan – you need to know that every detail is taken care of and that everyone is going to have the best time, the kids included! Let’s face it, if they have a good time, then so do you! Our family friendly ski chalets are quite literally just that – family friendly.

If it’s your first family ski holiday, you might have many questions about the logistics, from what to pack to how to get to ski school on time. What happens at lunch time? How experienced will the nanny be? Will there be stair gates? Do I need to bring a cot? (Yes, there will be stair gates and no.. you don’t need to bring a cot!). All of these questions are totally normal and whilst it might be your first family ski holiday, just remember it certainly isn’t ours! During the pre-holiday planning with your dedicated Concierge Manager, we will cover every aspect of the week ahead. This is your chance to tell us exactly what you want and for us to make your ski dream a reality. We will ask you a lot of questions but this is to ensure we are singing from the same hymn sheet, we aren’t just being nosey!

If you would like to book the children in to ski school (which we would advise), we will ask you some detailed questions to enable us to hand-pick the best ski instructor. A good ski lesson is the crux of a good ski holiday – get it right and the children will not only learn how to ski but grow in confidence. Get it wrong (which isn’t an option for us!) and it might put them off for decades. We work with the very best ski school partners in resort so you can be assured the children will be in the safest of hands. If you prefer to go down the private lesson route, which is absolutely the most tailored approach, then the same rules apply – the instructor will be totally handpicked to suit the age, ability and personality. The beauty of a private instructor is they are just for you. They’ll come to the chalet to meet you before hand and tailor the days route to suit the skier in question.

If some of the children are too young to ski, or perhaps you just want to bridge the gap between ski lessons ending and the dinner, bath and bed routine back at your ski chalet, then there are several childcare options that we can arrange. A private nanny service is available through our exceptional partners at Petit Verbier. Their amazing nannies are all highly trained and will provide the children with stimulating and fun activities, be it in the chalet or outside in the fresh air. If the ski lessons you book are for mornings only, they also offer a fantastic kids club whereby the children will be collected from ski school, taken for lunch and then revel in the snow all afternoon until pick up! It means you get to enjoy your time on the mountain, a long lazy child-free lunch (with a rose or two!) and reconnect with the little darlings at the end of the day. After all, it is your holiday too!

We would class all of our properties as family friendly ski chalets – we are fully equipped to welcome even the youngest of guests. From bed guards to bottle sterilisers, push chairs to high chairs we’ve got it covered! With several of our chalets also with rooms designed with kids in mind, we can safely say that we are your go-to luxury chalet operator for the best in family holidays. If we had to pick one, how about Chalet Rock? With the fully equipped cinema room, the dedicated games room and the snow garden that stretches far in front of the chalet, you can be assured the perfect family ski holiday.
